Privacy Policy for Remote
Developed and published by Build Pro Labs
Remote is a universal remote-control application that allows users to discover and control compatible TVs and other supported devices through their local network.
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Remote ("Remote", "we", "us", or "our"), developed by Build Pro Labs, handles information when you use the Remote Android application.
This policy describes the information the application accesses, how that information is used, what information may be stored locally on your device, and how third-party services such as Google AdMob may process information.
Remote is designed primarily to communicate with compatible devices on your local network to provide remote-control functionality.
2. Information Remote Accesses
To provide its core functionality, Remote may request Android permissions related to network connectivity, Wi-Fi state, nearby Wi-Fi devices, and device discovery.
Depending on the Android version and device, these capabilities may include:
- Internet and network access.
- Wi-Fi/network state information.
- Nearby Wi-Fi device access where required by Android.
- Network service discovery.
- Location-related permission where required by Android for certain Wi-Fi discovery functionality.
These capabilities are used to discover compatible devices, determine their local network addresses, establish connections, and provide remote-control functionality.
3. Location Permission
Certain versions of Android require applications to request location-related permission when performing specific Wi-Fi discovery operations.
Where such permission is required, Remote uses it only to support the applicable Android network/device discovery functionality.
Remote does not provide a location-tracking feature and does not intentionally collect your precise GPS location for its remote-control functionality.
You can manage Android permissions through your device settings. Some Remote features may not work correctly if required permissions are denied.
4. TV and Device Discovery
Remote discovers compatible devices on the same local network.
During device discovery, the application may obtain information such as:
- Device name.
- Local IP address.
- Network port information.
- Device or protocol type.
- Network service information required for connection.
Remote uses this information to identify available devices and establish the appropriate connection.
Device discovery is performed through local-network communication and Android network discovery mechanisms.
5. TV Connection and Pairing Information
Some supported TVs and devices require pairing before Remote can control them.
Depending on the device and connection protocol, Remote may locally store information required to maintain a connection, including:
- TV or device name.
- Local IP address.
- Connection protocol.
- Pairing or session information.
- Pairing tokens where required.
- Device certificates where required by the connection protocol.
This information is used to establish or maintain the connection between Remote and the device selected by the user.
Remote does not currently require users to create an account and does not operate a cloud account system for saved TV connections.
6. Local Storage
Remote may store device-related information locally on your Android device so that previously connected devices can be recognized and reconnected more conveniently.
Locally stored information may include device names, network information, connection protocols, and pairing/session information required by supported devices.
Remote provides functionality for removing saved device information.
Uninstalling the application generally removes its application data according to Android's application data-management behavior.
Remote does not currently maintain a developer-operated cloud database containing your saved TV/device information.
7. Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect
Remote does not require users to create an account for its core functionality.
Through our own services, Remote does not intentionally collect:
- Your name.
- Your email address.
- Your phone number.
- Your contacts.
- Your photos or videos.
- Your private messages.
- Your TV viewing history.
- The content you watch on your TV.
- Your TV or device passwords.
This statement applies to information collected through Remote's own services. Third-party services integrated into the application, such as advertising services, may process device or advertising information as described below.
8. Google AdMob Advertising
Remote uses Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to display advertisements.
Google and its advertising partners may process information associated with your device or advertising activity when ads are requested, displayed, measured, or interacted with.
Depending on the device, region, consent status, and advertising configuration, information processed by Google and its advertising partners may include device identifiers, IP address, approximate location derived from network information, advertising information, ad interaction information, diagnostic information, and information used for advertising measurement, fraud prevention, and related purposes.
The processing of information by Google is governed by Google's applicable privacy policies and terms.
For more information about how Google uses information from apps that use its services, please visit Google's privacy resources.
9. Advertising Consent and Privacy Choices
Remote uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to manage applicable advertising consent requirements.
Depending on your location and applicable privacy regulations, you may be presented with a consent message that explains how advertising-related information may be processed.
Where applicable, you may be able to:
- Provide consent.
- Decline consent.
- Manage your privacy choices.
- Change or withdraw applicable consent choices.
Your choices may affect the type of advertising that can be served to you, including whether personalized advertising is available.
Depending on the applicable regulatory framework and Google's advertising systems, advertisements may still be displayed when personalized advertising consent is not provided.
10. Advertising Identifiers
Google's advertising services may use advertising identifiers or other device-related identifiers for purposes such as advertising, measurement, fraud prevention, and related services, subject to applicable settings and consent.
Remote does not use advertising identifiers as a means of creating a Remote user account or identifying you personally through our own services.
You can manage advertising and privacy controls through your Android device and applicable Google privacy settings.
12. Local Network Communications
Remote communicates with compatible devices on the user's local network.
Depending on the device and supported protocol, different network communication methods may be used.
Information exchanged with a compatible TV or device is used to perform commands requested by the user, such as navigation, volume control, home, back, search, and other supported remote-control functions.
Remote does not intentionally transmit this local TV-control information to a server operated by Build Pro Labs.
13. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information handled by Remote.
Device and pairing information used by Remote is handled within the Android application environment and is used to provide supported device connections.
Remote uses secure or encrypted communication where required by supported device protocols.
However, no method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
14. Data Retention and Deletion
Remote retains locally stored device information for as long as it is needed to provide convenient reconnection and remote-control functionality.
Users may remove saved devices using the functionality provided by the application.
Uninstalling Remote generally removes the application's locally stored data according to Android's application data-management behavior.
Remote does not currently maintain a cloud account containing your saved TV/device information.
Third-party services such as Google AdMob may retain information according to their own policies and applicable retention practices.
15. Children's Privacy
Remote is not specifically directed toward children under the age of 13.
Remote does not require users to create an account and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through a Remote account.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information to Build Pro Labs, please contact us using the information provided below.
16. Your Privacy Choices
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights concerning your personal information.
These may include rights relating to:
- Consent.
- Withdrawal of consent.
- Access.
- Correction.
- Deletion.
- Objection to certain processing.
- Restriction of certain processing.
The availability and scope of these rights depend on the laws applicable to your location.
For advertising consent, Remote uses Google's consent-management tools where applicable.
You may also manage applicable privacy and advertising controls through your Android device and Google services.
17. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when Remote's functionality, third-party services, legal requirements, or privacy practices change.
When changes are made, we will update the "Last updated" date shown at the top of this page.
We encourage users to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
